Book Club Thursday: Thursday Rewind

Welcome back to Book Club Thursday!

Today we are doing..

What fun! A golden oldie. Something both Born to Read Books and I read a long time back. We love it so much we thought we'd do a review on it. We read it way before we did reviews.

Amaryllis
St. Helen's #1
Jayne Castle
10/1/96
Pocket Books
Pages: 336
Format Read: paperback
Source: Purchased
Genre: Futuristic

Amaryllis Lark is undeniably beautiful. She's also one of the best psychic detectives on St. Helen's, the earth colony recently cut off from the mother planet, yet not very different from home - a place where love still defies the most incredible odds. Lucas Trent, the rugged head of Lodestar Exploration, isn't keen on the prim and proper type - and, from her neatly buttoned up business suit to her cool evaluation of his request to bust a corporate thief, Amaryllis is EXCRUCIATINGLY proper!

Amaryllis may have psychic powers, but she can't read minds - least of all her own. When a bold hunch leads them from a wild murder investigation to a red-hot love affair, Amaryllis is shocked, Lucas is delighted, - and no power on heaven, earth, or St. Helen's can keep them apart!

I can't be sure but I would think that I would have read this one very close to when it first come out. I can't believe twenty-two years has passed. I'm kinda shocked and a little upset on how old I've gotten.

Even with all the years that have passed I remember this book. Or should I say that I remember both Amaryllis and Lucas. They both really stood out as characters.

With this book we were invited into a whole new world, or was it. I was already loving J. D. Robb's futuristic series that started a year before this one so I was primed for another series like that. With the Robb's you are on earth but with the Castle's you are on a different plant with people that are from earth.

Either way it worked for me. With it being so long ago I can't remember everything but I do remember the feelings I had reading it if that makes sense. I know my friends and I talked about it (the series) a lot.

We all enjoyed it and the dust bunnies helped. If you haven't yet met them you really should. They end up stealing the show, or book in this case.

My only disappointment is that last year we didn't get a new book in Castle's futuristic world. Since I don't read her historical's anymore because she changed her voice with them and they don't work for me I was very sad. I hope she does one this year. I'd hate after all these years to not be able to continue with her.

So, have you read any of the books in this series? If so what did you think? We'd love to hear from you. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡
