Author Interview & Giveaway: Not Quite Perfect by Catherine Bybee

NOT QUITE PERFECT
Not Quite Series, Book Five
Montlake Romance, Contemporary
September 20, 2016, First Edition
Paperback & Kindle

With true love, there’s no such thing as a safe distance.

Mary Kildare knows how to read people. It’s both why she makes a great therapist and why she refuses to trust the average bachelor. Staying fiercely independent has been her primary relationship strategy—until wealthy playboy pilot (and commitmentphobe) Glen Fairchild reappears in her life. After a yearlong teasing tug-of-war, Mary and Glen test the waters of attraction, only to find that their physical chemistry runs deeper than flirtation.

At first, a bicoastal romance suits them both—especially since Glen can swoop in and whisk Mary away on one of his company’s planes. But no matter how close they get, they’re still three thousand miles apart. And when Mary’s life is threatened, Glen realizes the one luxury he doesn’t have is time. Can he close the distance between them before it’s too late?

1. Welcome Catherine. Thanks for visiting with us here at Romancing the Readers. Tell us a little about yourself as a writer.

CB: Thank you for having me. Let’s see…a little about me. I’ve been published since 2009. I write full time and Not Quite Perfect will mark my 24th release. I write by the seat of my pants with very little planned as I sit down to write a book. Procrastination is a big part of my process followed by sheer panic when my deadline looms.

2. Can you please tell us a little about your, The Not Quite Series?

CB: The books are all loosely connected by family and friends. Which makes my readers extremely happy because they get updates on all my previous characters they’ve fallen in love with.

3. Tell us about Mary Kildare and Glen Fairchild from Not Quite Perfect.

CB: Mary is the BFF of Dakota, my heroine from the 4th book in the series. She’s a therapist who over analyzes everyone and everything. So when Glen turns on his player flirt, she doesn’t jump right in, for fear of getting hurt. Glen is the CFO of a private airplane charter company owned by he and his brothers. Brothers who have had, or will have, their own Not Quite HEA.

4. For me good characters make a good series, which are your favorite characters from this series?

CB: Oh, come now…that’s like asking me who my favorite child is. I love them all, I truly do. I never let my books go out until I’m completely head over heals in love with my characters. All of my books are character driven with the plots of the books completely dependent on the actions of my players.

5. Can your The Not Quite Series be read out of order or should we start with Not Quite Dating?

CB: I’m told over and over that all of my books easily stand-alone. That said, I think, like with any series where the characters are connected, it’s nice to watch their back stories evolve slowly and therefore the books are richer when read in order. But if you’ve never read Bybee before, starting with Not Quite Perfect won’t leave you scratching your head with unanswered questions.

6. Thank you for sharing with us about your upcoming book and the series it’s from, how about a little peek at what’s next for you?

CB: I’m in the process of editing the final book (book three) in my Most Likely Series. The second book, Staying for Good, will be available in January. This book is very dear to my heart since the entire series has some of my own background and friends as characters.

Cheers
Catherine
