Review: Thrill Me by Susan Mallery

Thrill Me
by Susan Mallery
Fool's Gold #18
Maya Farlow learned the hard way to depend only on herself, so when she fell too deeply for the bad-boy charms of Del Mitchell, she did the only thing she could—she ran. Stunned, Del left Fool's Gold to make his name and fortune in extreme sports.

Now ten years later, Maya's been hired to promote her hometown's new slogan, The Destination for Romance. The celebrity spokesman is none other than Del, the man she dumped but never forgot. Awkward!

Although Del's not the type to hold a grudge, he's determined to avoid falling a second time for the woman who broke his heart. He's a daredevil, not an idiot. Trouble is, in all his adventures, he never found a rush as exhilarating as Maya's kiss. Maybe risking his heart will prove to be the biggest thrill of all….

My thoughts.....

More often then not the second I finish a book I don't sit down to write the review. I will admit it...I'm so lazy. Plus it doesn't always hurt to think about it before writing a review. Going with your gut when it comes to the books you read isn't always the best choice. For a reviewer...not a reader. Remember, I try to do my best to tell you my thoughts about a book, the good and the bad.

Now saying that I just couldn't help myself with Thrill Me by Susan Mallery. I'm sure that before I post this review I will come back here and fix what I'm saying...or not. It all depends on how I'll feel then. But for right now I need to put down my thoughts.

I'm going to start by telling you I've had a long love...hate relationship with Mallery's books. I think she's a wonderful writer and draws so much emotions out of her characters and readers. Hence the love hate part.

More often then not I will find myself shedding a tear or two before I finish her books. Something that I enjoy by the way. On the one hand her books make me feel good, tears included. On the other..some of her characters at times make me want to scream!

Can you hear me?

What's going to shock you is that this time its not all the fault of just either the hero or heroine. Now that doesn't mean I don't have a few issues with Maya, because what I think she did was totally wrong.

I so badly want to say more but then it really ruins the book for those who haven't read it yet. This is the part I hate about reviewing books. I don't like to ruin something for others. I know when I read this how good the book is because I'm discovering all this information as it's happening. To tell you means when you read the book it won't have the same feel for you as it did me.

Because of that I'm being vague..and I'm so sorry about that. But I think you'll thank me after you read Thrill Me yourself.

I'm now feeling a little better after I've gotten some of that off my chest. And since I don't want this review to turn into it's own book I better start summing it up for you.

I love Del. He's such a great, fun guy. Who might have run from his disappointments and didn't handle them well, but his personality makes up for it. I also for the most part enjoyed Maya. I think she's had a lot of crap thrown at her as a kid and might have handle things poorly but I think she need to grow to be the woman she turned into.

Who I didn't care for was Del's parents. Now I know most of you might not agree with his mother, but might for his father. But I have to be honest, she was so wrapped up in her husband that she never noticed all the pain in her sons lives. In a way I would call that neglect.

Even though I had a few issues with Thrill Me I love the fact that Susan Mallery always makes me feel. That's all I can ask for in a book.

If you haven't yet started the Fool's Gold series you don't know what you are missing. It's such a great series! For those who have read this series or just Thrill Me I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for stopping by and happy reading!

  2. Great review. I appreciate the good and the bad with a review , and the responsibility of the reviewer not to give to much away. I am behind a little on this series, which I love.
