The Prince & I
The Oxenburg Princes #2
Out: August 25th
Max Romanovin, Oxenburg’s warrior prince, is escorting his grandmother to a house party deep in the Highlands when he and his entourage are robbed at sword point by a group of ruffians led by a man the locals have dubbed “The Scottish Robin Hood.” The battle-savvy prince instantly realizes there’s something different about this thief, and it’s not just the Scottish accent— it’s the fact that “he” is really a “she.”
Lady Murian, a young widow out for revenge against the powerful earl who killed her husband and stole his birthright, is now living in the woods with her family’s banished retainers. To stay alive, she and her band of men rob rich nobles coming to visit the evil earl. But when she ambushes the Prince of Oxenburg’s golden coach, she gets far more than she expected. For when the prince uncovers her true identity, she’s afraid that he might be the real thief…of her heart.
About the Author
New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Karen Hawkins is known for her wonderfully humorous and emotion-tugging historical and contemporary romances. The author of over 30 novels, Karen writes for a living between shopping for shoes, playing around on Facebook and Pinterest, looking for fun items for Hawkins Manor, and napping, although usually not at the same time. Sometimes, for fun, she takes Instagram pictures of her two rescue dogs, Sadie and Teke, and posts them online.
Yeah, she's a wild one.
Karen lives in balmy Orlando, Florida, with her husband, aka Hot Cop, and her two dogs. Her children are both out of college and have become productive, non-violent members of society. Karen writes six to eight hours a day when not obsessively reading research books on Regency-era Scotland, snacking on chocolate, or looking out the windows of her house and thinking about gardening. Her hobbies include sculpting, oil painting, playing badminton, and -- ok, ok, she doesn't have any hobbies, but if she did, she's sure they'd be something refined and fascinating.
If you want to follow Karen on any of the various social media outlets that allow her to engage in 'productive procrastination,' you can find her at:
I've been talking a lot in my reviews about "comfort reads." Those books or authors that just make you feel good while reading them. You know you'll get a good story, books you can count on. That's how I always feel about books written by Karen Hawkins.
I always enjoy her stories. They often have me laughing one minute and the next second sigh when the characters do something sweet.
Like I said, "comfort reads"
I was so thrilled when I The Prince and I showed up on my doorstep. It was hard to control myself and not read it the second I got it. The only thing that stopped me was the fact that I had other books to read first.
The Prince and I is book #2 of the Oxenburg Princes Series. I will say that it's better then the first book in the series but I really can't pick which one I liked better. What I can tell you is that I love Max's grandmother. You meet her in the first book in the series and I looked forward to visiting with her again in this book.
Poor Max might be "warrior prince", but he's no match for his grandmother.
For the first quarter on this book I laughed and laughed. You will love when his carriage is robbed. Like I said poor Max.
Max isn't the only one that makes me chuckle, Murian had me laughing a time or two also. She gets so mad at something that Max says. It's a great scene. You'll really have to read The Prince and I to know what it is. I want to say it's around page 56....get the book to know for sure. I know, I'm so mean. Haha!
I promise you'll love the story. The romance between Max and Murian is so sweet and romantic. You can tell right away they are meant to be with each other. There also is a little mystery in the story that's done very well. Plus grandma as usual is butting into her grandson's life, even if he does know.
I will tell you that you can read The Prince and I without reading book #1 but it's even better if you read them in order.
I'd love to hear your thoughts about The Prince and I or about any other book of Karen Hawkins. Don't forget to pick up your copy of The Prince and I on August 25th! Happy reading!
The Prince Who Loved Me
The Oxenburg Princes #1
Prince Alexsey Romanovin enjoys his carefree life, flirting—and more—with every lovely lady who crosses his path. But when the interfering Duchess Natasha decides it’s time for her grandson to wed, Alexsey finds himself in Scotland, determined to foil her plans. Brainy, bookish, and bespectacled, Bronwyn Murdoch seems the perfect answer—she isn’t at all to the Duchess’s taste.
Living at the beck and call of her ambitious stepmother and social butterfly stepsisters, Bronwyn has little time for a handsome flirt—no matter how intoxicating his kisses are. After all, no spoiled, arrogant prince would be seriously interested in a firm-minded female like herself. So…wouldn’t it be fun to turn his “game” upside down and prove that an ordinary woman can bring a prince to his knees…
