Review: Even The Score by Kate Meader

EVEN THE SCORE

Available: July 21, 2015

He’ll make her an offer she can’t refuse…
Actress Tess McKenzie is performing in the Tenth Circle of Showbiz Hell—dinner theater. All she really wants is to start a theater of her own. Then Tess receives an offer she can’t refuse. She’ll get her funding . . . if she pretends to be the fiancée to her nemesis, Texan property tycoon Hunter Dade. If she’s going to pull this off, she’ll need all the luck she can get.Break a leg, indeed.
On the verge of a big business deal, Hunter needs to hire a fiancée. He hasn’t quite forgiven Tess for ruining his wedding, but when their chemistry goes from combative to straight-up lust, the “no sex” clause in their mutually beneficial arrangement is tested. Which is a serious problem, because if Tess isn’t careful, she’ll go from breaking a leg to breaking her heart . . .

My thoughts....

I will admit I'm always happy to read a book by Kate Meader. I find her books to be well-written with funny, with touching characters that I want to get to know. It doesn't hurt that she uses Chicago a lot. I live there and love books that are based there. I know what you are say, just because a character is from or lives in Chicago they are no better then anyone else. You'd be wrong. Okay, I'm kidding. I'm sure we all like to read stories that are based from where we live. Or that the author lives in your hometown.

Fun, right!

Back to me being a fan of Kate's, I read her Hot In the Kitchen Series and reviewed them for you all as I did. If you haven't yet read the series, you should. I haven't yet read her new series, Hot In Chicago other then the Novella in Baby, It's Cold Outside. I'm a bad girl with way to many books to read but I promise I will get to it and review them as I do. The good part is only the novella and the first book, Flirting With Fire are out. Melting Point another novella is out on August 31st, with Playing With Fire in September.

See, we have plenty of time to catch up. Fingers crossed!

Let's get back to Even the Score. Now this one is slightly different then the other books I've read by her. It's a little more sexy, but not to worry it has the humor and great characters that makes Kate's books so good.

You really feel sorry for Tess, she's not happy with what she's doing but has big plans so she has to put her time in, Doing dinner theater no less. Just her thoughts about it are funny. How many of us have gone to dinner theater and think the actors are having a grand ole time. Maybe not so much. Haha!

Now let's talk about Hunter. Oh Hunter! Smart, sexy and a nice man. I won't even mention the rich part. I really liked him and felt for him. He was a character I enjoyed reading about.

Now I will admit, I'm not a fan of fake engagements. I think they were at one time done to death, but because of who wrote it I was willing to give it a try.

I'm glad I did. Kate's put a fresh voice to it. I love how Tess and Hunter really don't like each other...or do they? It creates wonderful tension between them. It's sort of like slowing down to see a accident and knowing you really shouldn't and not being able to help yourself.

I very much enjoyed Even the Score and I'm so glad to have read it. It just came out yesterday so I hope you all ran out...okay, to your computers and get it. It's at a great price so what are you waiting for.

If you've read Even the Score I'd love to hear your thoughts! Happy reading!
