Book Club Thursday: Catching Up

Welcome Back to Book Club Thursday!

Today we are doing a "Catch Up" day where we will pick a single author and each of us will review a book from the author from where we left off. Today we are doing Brenda Novak's, Whiskey Creek Series.

I can't wait to see where my fellow bloggers are on her series! Here is where I am...

Home to Whiskey Creek

Whiskey Creek Series

Sometimes home is the refuge you need — and sometimes it isn’t.
Adelaide Davies, who’s been living in Sacramento, returns to Whiskey Creek, the place she once called home. She’s there to take care of her aging grandmother and to help with Gran’s restaurant, Just Like Mom’s. But Adelaide’s not happy to be back. There are too many people here she’d rather avoid, people who were involved in that terrible June night fifteen years ago.
Ever since the graduation party that changed her life, she’s wanted to go to the police and make sure the boys responsible—men now—are punished. But she can’t, not without revealing an even darker secret. So it’s better to pretend…
Noah Rackham, popular, attractive, successful, is shocked when Adelaide won’t have anything to do with him. He has no idea that his very presence reminds her of something she’d rather forget. Neither does he know she’s the reason his twin brother didn’t survive that party at the old mine.

My thoughts....

Even though I'm behind on this series doesn't mean that I don't like it. In fact, it's one my favorites. So for there are nine books in the series with the tenth, A Winter's Wedding coming out on October 27th. Home to Whiskey Creek is book four in the series and I have to say it was the one book so far in the series that had me doubting that she'd be able to pull off a happy ending for the main characters.

First off the subject matter isn't what I'd call romantic, but it is true life. More then once throughout the book I thought to myself, "she'll never make it work for this couple" Silly me, I should have had more faith in her.

I think you'll love both Adelaide and Noah. They are so good together. Both have issues from their past that they need to deal with, in fact the issues in the present aren't the greatest either. Adelaide is dealing with the failing health of her grandmother and her mother who comes in and out of both their lives. Noah has to deal with the thoughts of how he could have done more for his brother and now his best friend lets sip his feeling for him.

I will say that Noah dealt with his friend Baxter and what he has done. I would say more but I don't want to ruin the story for anyone. In fact there is so much more I'd love to talk about but if you haven't yet read the book I'd feel better is I keep the rest of my thoughts to myself. Haha! I know, I suck.

I will tell you that this is a wonderful series with many different layers to it. All the characters are so good to read about. I can't wait to read another and I'm mad at myself for getting so far behind. I will have to make the time to read the rest.

I would love to hear your thoughts if you've read any of the books in the Whiskey Creek Series.

Don't forget to stop by my fellow Book Club Thursday Bloggers and see which book of Brenda Novak that they reviewed.

On July 2nd we will be doing a theme post: Sultry Nights! We hope you'll join us!
