Book Club Thursday: Review of Mistletoe on Main Street by Olivia Miles

Welcome back to our Book Club Thursday! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope your day is going wonderfully!

Today we are reviewing Mistletoe on Main Street by Olivia Miles!

Briar Creek #1
Sleigh bells, snow, and second chances . . .
Briar Creek’s quaint shop windows, cozy homes nestled in snow, and neighborly residents are what Christmas dreams are made of—for everyone except Grace Madison. She left her hometown years ago to pursue a writing career. But when her father’s death leaves his bookstore empty, Grace must return to face why she fled Vermont in the first place: Luke Hastings, who still heats her up like a shot of smoky whiskey on a cold winter’s night.
Grace is back, and Luke is worried. How much has she changed as a bestselling author in the big city? What memories will she stir up? And was the choice he made five years ago the biggest mistake of his life?
Now, with their past, present, and future rocking around the Christmas tree, it’s time for Grace and Luke to face the music . . . and the mistletoe.

Review
My review might contain spoilers that could taint your thoughts on the book if you haven't read it.
I will say that I loved the cover to this book. That's what drew me to it. I saw the cover and couldn't wait to try it. I'm now going to admit to you all that it wasn't my cup of tea. I liked Luke more then Grace. I didn't find her a likable characters. I also didn't understand why they broke-up and she refused to ever come back home again. Most of the book Luke thought about his dead wife, one I'm not even sure he really loved all that much. I was really hoping for so much with this story after seeing this wonderful cover. I guess they are right, you can't judge a book by it's cover. Merry Christmas!
I'd love to know what you thought of Mistletoe on Main Street so if you've read it please tell me what you think!
Don't forget to stop by my fellow Book Club Thursday Bloggers and see what they thought of Mistletoe on Main Street.

Stop by on January 1st when we will be doing a theme, He Does What Again?

  1. Aw sorry to hear this one didn't work for you. I loved it. It wasn't at all what I was expecting though based on the cover. I really thought it would be a light hearted read but I loved the depth of it and watching the families start to heal from what they'd been through the last bit.

    1. I was real bummed that I couldn't get into it. I'm usually pretty easy going with the books I read. It just hit me wrong and then went down hill from there. I'm glad you liked it thought. I'm pretty sure it was me, not the story.

  2. It was disappointing for me, too. I usually love this type of story.
