Book Club Thursday: When a Series Ends

Welcome back! Today is a theme day and we are talking about how we feel when a series ends. Do you get tired of series and just wish they would end, or are you the type that eats them up and can't get enough of them....

I have to admit I'm a HUGE fan of series. Sometimes I fall behind, but for my favorites I keep up. I'm one of those people that hate when a series ends. I really start to think of the characters as family. I know, CRAZY. I do like that not all ongoing series and done the same.  I have found that some authors are doing series differently lately. Like Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold Series...

WHEN WE MET
Fool’s Gold book 13

Or Jill Shalvis's Lucky Harbor Series....

It’s In His Kiss

Book Ten

Both authors are writing ongoing series but have made it easier for fans that have just started reading them by doing trilogies within the series. This way you don't really have to read book one, and keep reading them in order to know what's going on. Of course after you've read them, I'm sure you'll want to go to the beginning and read them from book one. Both authors are doing a wonderful job of it.

We also have those series that never seem to end, they have so many books in them you wonder if you can keep up with it all. Authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon who's series seems to take on a life of it's own.

Or how about J D Robb...

Both authors series have been going on for a very long time. Sherrilyn's Dark Hunters have 24 books in the series and first came out in 2002. And J D Robb's In Death series has 38 books and started in 1995. I don't know about you but I still read them both. What is it about these authors that keep us coming back? I know for me good writing and great characters.

Lets not forget what are post title is, "When a Series Ends"... This is the part that I hate. I know I'm acting childish but I don't really care. I also get that authors need to write whats in their heads so they can bring me a wonderful story...did you all hear the attitude I was giving there? One of my favorite author is doing just that, she is ending her The Pride Series.

This one is just breaking my heart. From book one I've been hooked on them and tell everyone about them. I really do feel like they are family. I know this is due to the fact that she writes a fantastic story and has characters in her books you just want to know. If you haven't read them yet, you really should. Part of me can't wait to see what she has next for us, as it crushes for my shapeshifters.

How about you? What do you think about series? Are you a fan, or think they are just a way to suck all your money out of your wallet. Does it bother you that it seems like it's impossible to find a stand alone novel these days? I think you kind of have a idea what I think about them.

Stop by my fellow Book Club Thursday Bloggers and see what they think...

We have some really good post coming up for you this month. Next week on the 8th we are doing another theme, "What Happens @ RT, Stays @ RT" and after RT we will have some great giveaways, so remember to keep stopping by. Happy reading!

  3. One series that I am especially sad is ending is Kim Harrison's the Hallows series. Book 13, A Witch with no name will be the last book. I will really miss Rachel's adventures.
