Review: The King by J R Ward

The King
by
J. R. Ward

Long live the King…
After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father’s mantle—with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything—and everyone—at risk.
Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it. But when she decides she wants a child, she’s unprepared for Wrath’s response—or the distance it creates between them.
The question is, will true love win out... or tortured legacy take over?

I will admit it took me a few chapters to get into the story. I think it was all the head jumping with the characters. But I shortly got over that. Once I did, I was lost within the story. I am going to tell you a secret, as much as I couldn't wait for more of Wrath and Beth's story, I really couldn't wait to find out what happened to both Assail and Marisol. We were left hanging about them at the end of the last book. So you'd think I'd be happy to read more about them in this one, well it didn't happen because we still haven't finished their story. Now I have a whole year before I might learn more. Thank God I have so many other books to read. I also enjoyed learning even more about Trez & iAm. It looks like their stories are next. Both the brothers are characters that make you want more. Now, back to Wrath and Beth. So much happens to them in this book that you'll be blown away. I so can't wait for the next book...damn, ONE YEAR! Happy reading!

  3. I also enjoyed it, more than some of my peeps. The only complaint I had is that for the first time I was reading/listening about characters I didn't care much about, and that never happened to me in this series, I have always been completely invested in all the characters.
I'm glad you enjoyed it too :)
