Book Club Thursday/Review: Bluegrass State of Mind by Kathleen Brooks

Bluegrass State of Mind
by
Kathleen Brooks

In the first book of the Bluegrass Series, McKenna Mason, a New York City attorney with a love of all things Prada, is on the run from a group of powerful, dangerous men. McKenna turns to a teenage crush, Will Ashton, for help in starting a new life in beautiful horse country. She finds that Will is now a handsome, successful race horse farm owner. As the old flame is ignited, complications are aplenty in the form of a nasty ex-wife, an ex-boyfriend intent on killing her, and a feisty race horse who refuses to race without a kiss. Can Will and McKenna cross the finish line together, and more importantly, alive?

Review

I will admit that this is the first time I've ever read a book by Kathleen Brooks, but it won't be the last. I enjoyed the story and characters, even if at times I found the story to be somewhat busy. I also had a felt that McKenna and Will started seeing each other very quickly. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if this was a shorter book, but because it wasn't, it felt rushed. Now saying that, I found the story to be well-written and for the most part had a good story line. Well worth the free price.

I would give this book 3 stars.

Don't forget to stop by my fellow Book Club Thursday bloggers and see what they thought of Bluegrass State of Mind. Happy reading!
